This semester is quite difficult to me. It’s because I’m taking 7 subjects. My schedule also quite tough compare to last two semesters where I’ve taken only 6 subjects. The subjects that I taken for this semester are English for academic purpose (BEL311), Islamic economic (CTU241), macroeconomic (ECO211), mandarin ( BMD101), introduction of statistic (QMT216) business communication (MGT269) and the last one is co-curriculums which is I choose volley ball.
English for academic purpose or BEL 311, was taught by sir Izuan. This is not same as English subject that I’ve learned when I was in primary and secondary school at and also when I was at semester one and two. This BEL 311 quite different. We have to search for some reference and use all the reference that I have to write an essay. It’s not like I’ve learned before this. The lecturer just gives me the topic then I have to write an essay. When first time I learned about this subject, I though it’s easy. But I’m absolutely wrong. I’ve to read more books to gain more knowledge and vocabulary. I’ve to score A for this subject. It’s because this subject have 3 credit hours. It will affect my CGPA if I cannot score A for this subject. Before this, my English subject is taught by female lecture. But for this semester, I was taught by male lecturer. At first, I thought he was strict. But, after a couple of week, I get used with his way of teaching.
The second subject that I take is Islamic economic or CTU 241. It was taught by Ustaz Kamarulzaman B. Sulaiman. I didn’t know him very well before. I just heard his name from my senior. Sometimes, he also gave speech in the mosque. At the beginning, I tough he is strict. But he is very nice person. He always gave smile to his student while he is teaching. The way he teach, encourage me to know more about CTU 241. This CTU is not the same as other CTU that I learned before. This semester, I learn about economic in Islamic way. This subject has 2 credits hour. Although the credits hour is not that much, but I still have to work hard to get A for this subject just like I did before.
Last semester I learned microeconomic or ECO 162. But, for this semester, I’ve to learn macroeconomic or ECO 211. If the student cannot past ECO162, they cannot study ECO 211. It’s because the subject that we learned between ECO 162 and ECO 211 is related. Luckily I past my ECO 162 and now I can learn more about economic in macroeconomic. I know ECO 211 is much tough than ECO 162. But, it’s not the barrier for me to score in this subject. I hope that I can get A for this subject. This subject has 3 credits hour. I got Puan Zuraidah as my macroeconomic lecturer. She is nice and always wore something that suit for her. As a program coordinator, she always busy. In a week, I have 2 classes with her. One is for tutorial class. The other one is for lecture. Sometimes, I can’t understand the thing that she taught me. But I read it again or ask to my friends to make me understand that topic.
Mandarin is a new subject that I take in my life. Before this I don’t even know about mandarin. Mandarin is an elective subject that I should choose between mandarin and Arabic as additional language. I choose mandarin because at the secondary school, I already learned about Arabic. So, I want to learn something new. At the beginning, I though mandarin was tough subject. But, after almost a month I study mandarin, I know that mandarin is a very interesting subject. For the introduction, I just learned about myself pronounce in mandarin. At first, it’s quite difficult. I have to pronounce all the words with the specific tones. For me, it’s interesting. Miss Zhang taught me mandarin. I think she is a happy go lucky person. It’s because she always smile and sometimes laugh. She is thin and small. I hope I can get A for this subject. To get A, I have to remember all the mandarin words and of course do more practice and reading. Mandarin only has 2 credits hour.
The other subject that I learned in this semester is introduction of statistic or QMT 216. This is mathematics subject. For the beginning I felt okay for this subject. Maybe it’s because I really like calculation. For QMT, it’s not all about calculation, it still have theory for me to read. Miss Zarina was taught me QMT. She is strict. But I really understand what she was taught. Grade A is my target for this subject. I really want to score this subject because it has 3 credits hour.
Business communication or in the short form know as Bcomm is another subject for me to study this semester. This is the subject that I should give more attention. It’s because the assessment mark for this subject is 60% from the final exam. So, the total marks for the final exam is only 40%. The 60% in the assessment mark include all the assignment that the lecturer gave to me. Usually, the assignment is doing proposal and interview. To get A for this subject, I have to work hard for the assessment. Mr. Kamil taught me this subject. He is tall and wore glasses. In the class, he always speaks in English. There were only one or two words he used in Malays. Maybe that the way he suits his student with that subject that focus more about communication especially in English. This is a reading subject. So I have to read and read again to understand each topic.
The last subject that I take this semester is co-curriculum. This is another elective subject. I choose volley ball as my co-curriculum. At first I want to choose badminton. But it’s already full. So I decide to choose volley ball. Before come to class, I’m so afraid. I don’t know how to play. I’m afraid if the coach scold if I can’t get the ball. But that’s really untrue. The coach is really nice. He taught me and other student step by step playing volley ball. I really enjoy that class. It can help me release tension after study all the tough subject. This subject also have exam in the end of the semester. I really hope that I can play well and get A for this subject. This subject only has 1 credit hour.
That is all subject that I’ve to come through along this semester. Each subject has their own characteristic and importance to contribute point in increase my CGPA. My favorite subjects for this semester is QMT 261. Maybe it’s because only that subject has calculation. I hope that I can get all subject A’s in my coming final exam. I also hope that my journey along this semester is running smoothly.
